Freedom Snatch at iO - Week 31

Tonight marks the 31st week of Freedom Snatch's reign at the iO West Cage Match - can they defend their title?

Free show at 11pm on the iO West Mainstage, 6366 Hollywood Blvd. They put on a great show. Help them win! Or go vote for the other guy, to be contrary. My guess is that you will find yourself unable to after you see Freedom Snatch perform.

BrokeLA St. Patrick's Day Roundup

Hey folks - sorry for the hiatus. I'm back and finding you free things again.

I know there are tons of bars doing awesome things for St. Patrick's Day tomorrow, but I'm only going to mention the ones that are, in true BrokeLA fashion, offering something free. Cause we all deserve it.

So, in no particular order besides the one I found out about them in:

Backstage - This awesome karaoke dive in Culver City is serving free corned beef with all the trimmings all day and night. If you go, please let me know what those trimmings are.

South - Free green jello shots to go with their not free green beer. Also live music - Sally's Gap will be playing.

St. Patrick's Day Parade and Young Dubliners Concert
- For those of you who won't be in a cubicle tomorrow, the parade is at 11:30am in downtown LA. Irish band Young Dubliners will play at 12:30. The poster also says that they will be selling O'Douls for $1, which is not only non-free but also non-alcoholic.

More to come...

Restaurant.com Gift Certificates 80% off

Restaurant.com is offering 80% off of their already low gift certificate prices with the code "MENU." Enter the code during checkout and get a $25 certificate for $2, or a $10 certificate for 60 cents.

I've used these before, and they're great, but make sure you read the restrictions, as they vary by establishment and sometimes require a large purchase.

Free Improv that is actually Awesome

Improv Olympic (aka iO West because the International Olympic Committee threatened to sue) hosts an Improv Cage Match every Thursday night at 11pm, and it's free.

The team Freedom Snatch has won 27 weeks in a row. I was lucky enough to see them perform in February, and it was honestly one of the best improv shows I've ever seen. They are fast, witty, and ridiculously funny. I highly recommend them. This Thursday they are being challenged by Stolemite.

iO is at 6366 Hollywood Blvd, between Ivar and Cahuenga. Valet is $4 with validation, or you can find street parking on Vine or Sunset moderately easily.
